Her Story

By Jessica Perryman

By Jessica PerrymanPublished 4 years ago 1 min read

The ancient wisdom forgotten

Destroyed by power ill gotten

And only faces distorted by the pain and the torture

Cling fingertip grasping

Too bitter to live and too angry to die

Reliving memories of actions swept under the rug

Through HIStory

And through HERstory

The she who lives next door to you

The one in four

Who was divested of her innocence for the pleasure of a man

A moment to him is her lifetime of shame

Shamed into silence

To afraid to speak her truth for fear of judgment and rebuke

Instead of knowing her worth and claiming her sovereignty

She stares in the mirror robbed of her dignity

The ancient wisdom forgotten

Destroyed

By power ill gotten
