as the hushed conversation lingered in my ears I couldn't help but be swept away by a sense of melancholy
she was comforting a dear friend sharing a solemn truth we all must face
the knowledge of our own fragility the weight of her reality settled upon me like a gentle mournful rain
her own fragile health a fact I'd known unchanging irrevocable
yet she bestowed upon me invaluable lessons etching them into the tapestry of my existence
in the presence of her quiet strength I realized that even the most resilient spirits must acknowledge the finite nature of our existence
in my quiet prayers I cradled her hoping her burden would ease her pain lessen
in life's brief wondrous moments she taught me the art of embracing the present
that it would break us if we refuse to let go for it's acceptance that mends our hearts
she finds solace in nature's grandeur the melodious birdsong the delicate dance of butterflies
once she shared about a common blue butterfly that captured her awe it was one of the most beautiful thing I've ever seen
she unveiled life's hidden splendors for me a world ablaze with beauty
she'd marvel at the English bluebells' bloom guiding through the ancient woodsland
wild garlic delights in a fragrant spree her world of wonders she shared with me
I couldn't help but feel a profound gratitude for her presence in my life
she had illuminated the path of mindfulness for it's within the present that we find solace leaving a lasting impression on my heart
when she spoke of the beavers' triumphant return to the wild I feel that their testament to resilience mirroring her own steadfast spirit
through her lens I've seen Britain's night sky a celestial show Aurora Borealis's dance a radiant flow and also the Milky Way's grand display in awe I gazed as stars held sway
her pragmatism a counterbalance to her boundless empathy a wellspring of kindness a rarity in a world often lacking
her light a beacon of hope radiated far and wide touching every life it encountered bless her kind soul
in deeds not words her love did grow she has a heart so genuine a kindness to bestow compassion boundless and vast she welcomed those in need into her home
my words often failed me but I longed to convey the depth of her magnificence
we must remember that we are but fleeting travelers bound by the threads of time
yet hearing it spoken out loud from her lips stirred emotions deep within me
This poem is dedicated to another writer that I know.
Although I'm not particularly inclined towards nature myself, I'm now beginning to see and appreciate nature through her words and perspective.
Perhaps one day, I might have the privilege of meeting this remarkable person, even though I might not have much to say. *Maybe we could take a walk in the woods together and simply enjoy the beauty of nature.
*For those who don't know me well, my conversation skills are just awkward and beyond limited.
