her morning

She wakes to the whimsical choir of the yellow canary harmonizing with the faint rain outside her window

She brews a boiling cup of tea

Warming her throat with the roasted coconut flavor

She hydrates the dozens of plants crowding her tiny home with a tin watering can

The leaves of the plants vibrating as the water sprinkles across each and every stem

She floats across her cozy home to the primitive bathroom

Standing underneath the eucalyptus hanging from the shower head

Soaking in the lukewarm water

Lathering her skin in coconut body scrub

Rinsing the sugar and coconut from her body

Carefully, she steps from the shower

Bundling herself in a fluffy towel

She gently massages the yellow shea butter into her brown skin

The milky candle chirps beside her on the white bathtub

The orange sun leaks through the window

Spilling over her shoulder

Gingerly kissing her cheek

Her skin glistens under the open window

The quiet breeze caresses her naked body

The radio dances beside her as her heart hums to the melody

Her kinky locks sleep against her back, tickling the edge of her spine

As the stray hairs whisper vicariously in her ears

She prepares a bowl of searing oatmeal

With a glass of water

Flavoring the bland cereal with fresh fruit and dried nuts

She hugs a book between her toasty hands

Fiddling between the delicate pages

Melting into the pillows of her couch

Listening to the singing rain
