A girl cloaked in shadows holding a light

She hides from the voices with book in hand

The pages her comfort all through the night

She conquers dragons and explores new lands

A shadow on the wall displays her curls

Bowing softly over pillows and throws

Reading rich stories of loved little girls

Just one paragraph in and there she goes

Dancing into the light of joy they know

Spotlit softly by the moon as it glows

Leaving behind her familial foes

Against the wall a petite silhouette

Gathers strength and fights demons with others

The angst of her own which she'll soon forget

In loving arms of fictional mothers

The dark rage of her own will fade away

Until the sun brings the light of the day
