Her Eyes; My Trial

unrequited

By Maggie CrouchPublished 5 years ago 1 min read

HER EYES, MY TRIAL

incensed with the pain

a nonsensical disease

blood shed from the heart

scrapes upon my knees

with eyes like heaven

her heart's long lost for good

not lost within but without,

having been given without doubt

these idle hands and weary mind,

give all oneself to those eyes that bind

behind the walls crumbling still

i was given an in,

i had the best gift of all,

i let it fall,

lost her faith in my words,

in my love. forever

will those eyes hide from me,

until one day,

she'll notice that one cannot hide

within themselves

she will love and find better

in her eyes

but never will those eyes find

in so short a time

she'll hide the flames

behind her eyes

sad poetry
