Her Colors and His Shapes

she + him = me

I look in the mirror

and

see him

and

see her

I look at the eyes

and

see his dull ache of thoughts

and

see her innocence in brown doe relief

I stare at the nose

and

see his intrusive bulb of a thing

and

see her dark nostrils flared in warning

I linger on the lips

and

see his frown in eternal disapproval

and

see her shade of pink perfect for kissing

I peek at the forehead

and

see his scrunched, confused expression

and

see her pallor of right gone wrong

I look at it all

and

see his imperfections mounting

and

see her detachment growing

I see all of me

and

know he was never enough

and

recognize she was never content

yet

I still exist,

a marvel,

a miracle,

a mistake,

all dressed up in different hues

and

I am enough, no matter what they say.

fact or fiction
