Hello old enemy

How’re you today

Before and behind me

You’re always in my way

Wash the taste of love

Now out my mouth

Relations are on fire

But my soul is headed south

My whole life

I ran to every fight but

All my life

I’ve lost every one of ‘em

Now we laugh

The pain out our systems

I hate you even though

These nights, I missed ‘em

Wisdom and patience

For those I pray

By his side sometimes

When the night is day

Tip me a wink when

I catch you there

Look me over

While back at you I glare

With longing

And familiarity

The future holds

Some sweet possibilities

I won’t give up

When it knocks me down

I will love true love

When it comes around

About the Creator

Emily Dickerson

Hopeful and young, full of love. From my heart high praises are sung. For this reason I am here: to love and serve and bring all souls near. <3
