Hello, Good Friend!
-a Christmas card poem-

A deer came slamming into my right front fender
and I am here to rue the day…
but not she.
She flew back,
legs broken,
neck gashed,
gone in a flash—
as I might have been,
and taken others with me,
had there been a car beside mine, or close behind.
Wildly I swerved in a dandy Dodge Colt--
veering side to side on that interstate highway
until my trusty steed righted itself at last
and trembling, I emerged to say, whuh...
“You know, I’ve been wanting a Honda!
Geico will never pay for all that crumpled steel!”
For me, just a sudden change of plans.
So ‘tis hello, good friend
and not goodbye!
God’s blessing I extend—
For yet another season.
