Hell Must Be a Crowded Place

I often tell my kid:

hell must be crowed,

for too many sinners,

will be placed there.

Let me share a story.

It was from India,

generations before.

This woman had two daughters,

and her spouse died.

Girls didn’t inherit,

ancestral property,

in those patriarchy times.

So the brothers of the deceased,

grabbed his share

and gave meager allowances,

to the sad widow.

Land prices increased,

and so did the cost of living,

but the money she was given,

was never enough to survive.

I have seen that woman live

in poverty and indignity —

in a tunnel-like dark place,

squeezed between sprawling houses

of those greedy takers.

They passed the property

to their sons,

and built temples

to leave their legacy.

Hypocrite humans —

for all their godly acts,

are not going to heaven

if they take advantage of

a victim of circumstance.
