**Author's Note: This poem was inspired by a courageous Ukrainian woman's words to Russian soldiers. You can view her story here. Sunflowers are sign of solidarity. They will always grow towards the light (heli0tropism). **

Your men walk our land.

Their seeds seek to be sown

on soil that is not theirs.

I have brought my own

so you can fill your pockets.

Take them and lie

down in the dirt with your lies.

You have occupied our land,

But sunflowers know no borders.

They will grow in your shadow

and bow to the light.
