Held Steady

I no longer chase the horizon —

I let the light come find me.

There is a discipline in stillness,

a dignity in restraint,

a quiet certainty in knowing

what does not require persuasion.

I have learned the difference

between being chosen

and being offered a distraction.

I do not negotiate my worth

with moments that move too fast,

or rooms that forget their grace.

I stay where truth feels natural.

I walk where peace answers.

And when the world calls,

I do not rush —

I rise

only to what honors me.
