Held by Yellow

I try to make my love like that...

By Shay HaasPublished 5 years ago 1 min read

I vividly remember my baby blanket.

Soft and fuzzy cotton with a silk border. Yellow.

Very few things have held me the way that blanket did.

A secure, comfortable, and warming embrace.

I try to make my love like that. Warm.

Where there’s simply a knowing that everything will be okay.

Just special for some reason.

I go there often, to that embrace.

Its memory holds me when I feel like a baby (or when I want to be one again).

When life smacks your hand or yells at you, “no!” and you just cry uncontrollably.

And all you want and need is that secure, comfortable, and warming embrace of your yellow baby blanket.

I try to make my love like that. Like the sun too.

To enter a room and make everything glow.

To hold and wrap around everything without restraint.

To put a smile on your face and make you breathe deeper.

Dandelion breezes, blue skies and tummy time.

Takes me to a place where I can be everything for you.

A reminder of innocence and untethered joy.

Where it cannot be contained - like laughing so hard that you can’t breathe.

I try to make my love like that. Breathtaking.
