Heights

By Bevan Tse-stuartPublished 2 months ago 1 min read

no one has ever asked me what my biggest fear is.

But I have been asked what I’m scared of before.

And I have a default setting because it’s ironic and it’s an easy cop out, I say heights.

But that’s not my biggest fear,

Far from it.

The biggest fear is a fear I don’t think can be faced

The fear I’ll go to my grave never having loved fully

Never having had the chance to hand my heart on a platter

To a stranger in a bar.

Or cook breakfast and brew coffee

For someone still asleep.

Or buy flowers and chocolates on my way home

For a person in my home.

But that’s too hard to explain to someone

So I say heights.
