Heeded to Hell

Fairytale Couplets

By Marina Bonanno Published 5 years ago 1 min read
fairytale interpretation

It was the devil’s deal to steal her soul,

to catch her tumbling down the rabbit hole,

Enchant her with the bait in pearly white—

deception veiled by dumbness and de-light .

Her keys too large or small for Grace’s door,

she succumbed blindly to temptation’s lure.

The bottle titled “Drink Me” sealed her fate—

forbidden fruit that fastened heaven’s gate.

Her body grew to such enormous size,

puddles began to swell within her eyes.

She could not swim above her pool of tears,

drowning beneath the sound of muted prayers.

Hare and hatter offer communion’s wine

redemption is worthless in hellish shrines.

Marching off in search to meet her maker,

Queen of Hearts whose fiery wrath awaits her,

Soon taken prisoner by demonic spies

a ruthless sinner dwelling in her eyes.

The red-faced queen declares “Off with her head,”

admittance for a soul already dead.
