Heartbroken At Dawn.

Is This Really Happening?

There was nothing in his heart,

Not a single thought of love,

Or warmth in his words,

There was just nothing but silence.

Maybe it was me and my selfish mouth;

After all,

I was the one who told him to leave,

I was the one who said I was suffocating,

And that I could not breathe.

I asked him for a break;

A break from the fighting,

A break from the arguing,

A break from my shattered heart,

And my mind as I lost myself.

He left me heartbroken at dawn,

Not a single good bye,

Just these four words,

"It was your fault."

Tell me something,

Did I ask you to sleep with her?

Was it worth the fight?

Am I truly to blame because you can't handle me?

Am I that worthless, that you chose to be with someone else?

Someone you have only known for two days?

I sit here nursing our baby on our knee;

She is only two days old,

Does she deserve this?

Does she deserve you as a dad?

She is the most beautiful human in my life.

Is this really happening?

I wish we could go back to the start,

But no,

I must not;

I am heartbroken at dawn,

But from this pain I shall heal,

For her;

The most precious being in my life.

    Enjoyed your heartbroken poem.

  • Your eloquent depiction of heartache and the raw emotions that accompany it is both powerful and relatable. The way you capture the essence of sorrow and the quiet moments of reflection at dawn is truly masterful.
