Heartbroken

Heartbroken and Again

By Nicole BlackPublished 8 years ago 1 min read

Heartbroken but repaired, you came into my life. Like an unexpected summer breeze, that cools the burn, you were something that took me away and soothed the ache that remained. A delight, a joy, a happiness I had not had in years. I found myself falling down and hard like the leaves in the autumn, a natural way, something that was suppose to be. Passion in the heart and full of a new healed love, how could this feeling ever end? How could the one who says I’m perfect in every way ever leave? This love so maddening, thoughts never crossed as my mind floated closer to the clouds.

But then the sudden storm came. With strong winds and thunder and lightning. And out of nowhere it ripped my heart from me and threw it to the ground, without cause or thought. Nothing I could do to put it back, it was over. And as I drowned in the salty ocean that flowed heavy from the blue, I overlooked as words and promises became lies and betrayal.

Such a short time and your heart has returned to the former, the one that was done, forgotten and never to go back to. Heavy that reality of being just your toy, just the puppet on the string to be played with until your heart desired something shiny and new. So were the hopes, tender feelings that were whispered softly, and the promises of forever ever meant to be mine? Or were they forever to be hers? Lies and deceit, betrayal and heartbreak is all that has come from someone that once was so beautiful, and happy. Like the gracious summer breeze you once were your winds turned, and what’s left from this hurricane is flooding that never seems to stop.

A heart broken...and broken again.
