i vomited a poem
from a queasy
uneasy heart -
gulp it down
choke it back
but a violent wave of scribbled bits
of half-digested rhyme
splatter the page -
steaming, slimy similes
mingled with mostly-masticated metaphors
and mangled attempts at alliterative allusion.
just as i gasp for breath
a second onslaught
of coronary expulsion
blows chunks of chaotic
enjambment. Driveling rivulets
of double entendre dribbling
from my gaping maw
as i lay curled on the floor
sniveling beside this puddled mess
of everything
and nothing.
and just when i think it's safe to move,
i vomit once more.
