Heart of Fire
A heart burns bright,
in the open dark,
red and fierce,
against the silence.
flames rise slowly,
curling in gold,
shaping the night,
around its glow.
heat drips downward,
soft as falling ash,
leaving faint trails,
of fading light.
its edges melt,
yet stay unbroken,
holding strength,
inside the blaze.
the darkness watches,
quiet and patient,
letting the fire,
speak for itself.
I move closer,
drawn by warmth,
and something older,
than memory.
it beats without sound,
steady and certain,
as though it knows,
who still needs it.
and in that glow,
I feel my pain,
melt just enough,
to breathe again.

I've been writing poetry since the age of fourteen. With pen in hand, I wander through realms unseen. The pen holds power; ink reveals hidden thoughts. A poet may speak truth or weave a tale. You decide. Let pen and ink capture your mind❤️

This is one heartfelt poem, but I know for some at one time, or another could be one of heartburn. Good job.
