Out of kindness

as hearts’-ease

There’s no heartbeat in the ocean tide

There’s no heartbeat in the setting sun

There’s no heartbeat in cinderblocks walls

However there’s a heart in my chest

that beats per measure

Thump, thump, ba boom

Measuring up to my heartsong

Out of goodness

as heart’s-ease

There’s no heartbeat in the blue sky

There’s no heartbeat in the cosmos

There’s no heartbeat in glaciers

However there’s a heart in my chest

that beats per measure

Measuring up to my stoutheartedness

ba bump, lub-dub

From the bottom of my lion heart

Hearts in one’s mouth

When a heart leaps it opens

When a heart melts it bleeds

Hearts on one’s sleeve

When a heart knocks it skips

When a heart sinks it pours
