Heart Breaks

A silly sadness

What does it take

For a fixed heart to break

Do the strings that you've bound it in stretch?

What does it do

When I'm not looking at you

And the words I speak are for the rest?

What will you say

When I give mine away

To someone who isn't like you?

What does it take

For a locked heart to break

When you wanted us to be just two?

When will you learn

That the world can burn

And rip away all of your walls?

But the fire is warm

And I was waiting for

You to try giving your all.

What does it take

For my own heart to break

When you shutter your eyes and look down?

What does it take

For a dead heart to fake

A beating and make me a clown

heartbreak
