Heart

A Poem

I want someone to pierce my heart,

to relieve the pressure.

There would be blood

(of course there’d be blood… it’s a heart),

But there’d be air too.

Some sort of gas.

It would be green and pink and blue and purple.

Bruised.

Some might say it’s because I haven’t looked after it.

But I think it’s the opposite…

I’ve let it love what it loves,

Wildly and with abandon,

Diving deep into impossible situations

Experiencing the depths and breadths and heights,

And allowing it the freedom, if only for a moment,

to see the possible in the impossible.
