Healing Love

Forgiveness

By Kelli Sheckler-AmsdenPublished 11 months ago 1 min read

He could fill up the doorway

Both body and soul

She hid out with her monsters

Who had taken control

Leaving her to ponder

A scene she’d seen before

Where the image once cast

Was a declaration of war

She had no idea what he was about

She let down her guard

Put away all her doubts

And he stepped up to the plate

Put it all on the line

She took the promise he made

Took a step that was blind

It’s so hard to trust

When we’ve damaged ourselves

Inflicting the wounds

That entices the wolves

Forgiving the past

Forgetting the guilt

Cutting the cast

From the damage we built

Such are the risks we take anytime we allow ourselves to become vulnerable. It it worth it? I believe so, though at times, even I begin to wonder.
