He Just Wanted To Go Home

A birthday tribute to Trayvon Martin

By Joe PattersonPublished 3 years ago Updated 3 years ago 1 min read

He just wanted to go home. Trayvon Benjamin Martin, a young boy. Tracy Martin and Sabrina Fulton’s pride and joy.

He just wanted to go home. As innocent as could be as he walked with his skittles and tea.

He just wanted to go home. On his way to have fun he didn’t think he’d be face to face with a gun.

He just wanted to go home. In the heat of the night he didn’t think that was the end of his life.

He just wanted to go home. He didn’t know he was walking to death on his way to his last breath.

He just wanted to go home. Why did his life have to end all because of the color of his skin?

He just wanted to go home. Murdered like a savage animal in the wild, but he was only an innocent child.

He just wanted to go home. When it’s all said and done, he was someone’s baby…someone’s son.

He just wanted to go home. A young life ended at just seventeen years filled a nation with tears.

He just wanted to go home. The loss of his life was unjust. Equity for Trayvon Martin is a definite must.

He just wanted to go home. We will make sure your death wasn’t in vain. Rest In Peace, Trayvon. We will always remember your name.

Dedicated to the memory of our brother Trayvon Benjamin Martin. Happy Heavenly birthday, we will always remember your name.
