Happy world quantum day
You got me in a bit of a state
Though I haven't got a clue
How you do just what you do,
I know how key you are to
The future of all peoples.
May this day of celebration,
For each and every nation,
Bring global realization
Of quantum's certain value.
I understand your change of state
Far surpasses logic gate,
When there's a need to calculate
A digital conundrum.
I'd like to give my thanks therefore
To scientists who labour for
The qubit's mighty metaphor
Of sub-atomic wonder.
So raise a cheer
From far and near,
The day is here for
Quantum mechanics.

Day 4 of Quitting
If this is how sobriety feels, maybe it’s better to go through life a little buzzed… this, along with other hits like, I want to kill myself, I wish I was dead, and I’m going to throw myself off a bridge have been the only thoughts on rotation these past few days. I promise myself that if, in a month, I still feel like this (‘this’ meaning despondent, full of rage, and simultaneously numb) I can go back to smoking. Until mid-February though? Nicotine is off the table.
