Happy Little Wonderland

People call me crazy.

People call me insane.

But yes,

I find happiness in the snowy winters.

My family all call me insane;

the amount of times they have

told me that I just

"don't know what I'm talking about",

is unreal.

But I can't help it.

I love the snowy winters.

Pretty sure it has everything to do with

the fact that I have been born and raised

in hot-as-hell country (aka Florida);

where the only season we ever get is

hot with the occasional cold front

(although those cold fronts are almost

always just the temperature dropping from 90s-70s

to a whooping 50-60 degrees).

I'm not even surprised that my own

family laugh at me anytime I talk about

how much I find happiness in snow;

they're all born and raised in New York.

Every single one of them have seen

how it feels to live during crisp, white winters,

while I'm just from land of the hot;

land of beaches and hurricanes.

What would I know about

winter wonderlands?

What would I know about

being in the snow;

about being knee high in the

middle of a blizzard,

or stranded on the highway

as the road ahead covers itself

with white comforters?

Sure,

when you put it like that,

snow sucks.

But,

the way I love snow,

I can't even explain it;

the idea of snow,

the idea of having a white winter

blanketing over the sidewalks

as the sky turns a greyish color;

that just makes me feel the most

at peace..

if that makes sense.

The idea of running through the

winter wonderland;

The idea of the snow caking my boots,

or covering the fabric of my clothing;

It calms me in a way.

To this day,

I never figured out why exactly

I love snow just as much as I do..

I just do.

Trust me,

the first thing people always ask me

when I mention just how much I

adore snow is

"Why?",

"Why on Earth would you rather be in

that frozen hellhole?",

or they'd immediately throw in the towel with,

"You wouldn't be saying that if you

actually lived in the snow.",

but I can't help myself.

Growing up surrounded by

hot weather,

all year round;

you'll seriously learn to really, really

hate the heat.

So, I guess I do have something in common

with those who grew up around snow;

the way they cannot stand being in

the middle of a snowstorm,

or the cold weather that comes

along with being in snow..

is the exact way I've always felt

towards the heat,

or the hot weather that

comes along with it.

So, yes.

Call me crazy all you want.

But,

I'll never step back on how I truly feel

towards the happy little wonderland

of whiteness.

We all have soft spots for something..

for me,

it's this.
