Wet and humid Halloween,
the rain a steady drizzle.
Children came in flocks and droves,
all for treats and praise.
I handed out as instructed
fistfuls of candy.
The bowl was empty and woe,
The hoard was still descending.
In went more candy to the bowl
to sate these hungry beings...
but now instead of fistfuls,
the candies handed out
were now a meager two.
Sadness to be given only two,
when those before got more,
but those were the instructions
I was given through the night.
At last the trick or treaters
Stopped coming by.
We still had candy,
to parents’ delight,
and thus did we end
by turning off the porch light.

I've always had a love of books and writing. Most of what I will post is poetry, because I have a lot of emotions that need a safe outlet. I want to be a published author someday, and hope you all can help encourage me on my journey!
