haiku july
july 2023 first week, in haiku

it's july now
here i sit in palatine
lovely rainy morn'
. . . [7/1/23]
. . .
people are coming
more and more people will come
then we all go home
. . . [7/1/23]
. . .
the rain'll stop soon
but for now it's nice and sweet
this quiet will end
. . . [7/1/23]
. . .
at a different house
oh, how life feels when not home
living in both planes
. . . [7/1/23]
. . .
i have open sores
on my hands, just on my hands
because i pick them
. . . [7/1/23]
. . .
i've picked for so long
sometimes i do well and don't
but i'm picking now
. . . [7/1/23]
. . .
today is the 3rd
and we will leave tomorrow
been nice to see all
. . . [7/3/23]
. . .
the quiet of now
paying attention to now
i'll sit for a now
. . . [7/3/23]
. . .
i sit here and sit
and i hear the birds outside
slight breeze, or traffic?
. . . [7/3/23]
. . .
and it keeps coming
thoughts or ideas or being
for now i'll just sit
. . . [7/3/23]
. . .
we'll go back home now
it was great to see you all
maybe a bit short
. . . [7/4/23]
. . .
or was it just right
one more day would be too tight
so we leave today
. . . [7/4/23]
. . .
he said "up your butt"
and i said "you seem just fine"
and he drank more tea
. . . [7/4/23]
. . .
we are flying now
above mountains and river
that is our planet
. . . [7/4/23]
. . .
what is all of this
i mean, really, what is it
we do all this stuff
. . . [7/4/23]
. . .
how long can it go
other extinctions have been
how long can it be
. . . [7/4/23]
. . .
my sweetie is here
we can really be us now
better and better
. . . [7/4/23]
. . .
blocked by an aisle
i could go again i could
she sleeps, so i'll wait
. . . [7/4/23]
. . .
wish i could tell you
here i am as i try to
you have to see it
. . . [7/4/23]
. . .
there's brown and there's blue
there's mountains and sand for days
and we, way up here
. . . [7/4/23]
. . .
way up in the sky
i can't really tell the where
the vast desert west
. . . [7/4/23]
. . .
organization
the towns and such start to pop
home in an hour
. . . [7/4/23]
. . .
we mean to do things
and sometimes we don't get there
we can still do it
. . . [7/5/23]
. . .
today i go back
refreshed is not quite helpful
'cause i got the taste
. . . [7/5/23]
. . .
july 6 it is
july and not over june
that's just how it goes
. . . [7/6/23]
. . .
i must change my view
would be better to focus
to focus on good
. . . [7/6/23]
. . .
we've slept, for too long
it's pretty cozy down here
now rushing a bit
. . . [7/7/23]
. . .
it is friday though
it will soon be the weekend
thank goodness for those
. . . [7/7/23]
. . .
it's not fun rushing
and lose your precious morning
better early rise
. . . [7/7/23]
. . .
it sounds pretty nice
light birds and light garbage trucks
still a sweet morning
. . . [7/7/23]
. . .
i'll sit and give time
give space to this like i'm in
and try to be calm
. . . [7/7/23]
. . .
and what will you do
you are calm, peace and quiet
and that is quite nice
. . . [7/7/23]
. . .
when i sit and breathe
that's when i really feel best
can i live from that
. . . [7/7/23]
. . .
what about polo
there are matches just right there
we've missed them for years
. . . [7/8/23]
. . .
what about painting?
you know you love doing that
how about that again
. . . [7/8/23]
. . .
the plumbing issue
at the house seems a big one
i just remembered
. . . [7/8/23]
. . .
i feel we can win
whatever that means we can
just don't forget it
. . . [7/8/23]
. . .
the movie business
is full of a bunch of shit
follow the money
. . . [7/8/23]
. . .
i left years ago
i miss some of it, not all
humans make stories
. . . [7/8/23]
. . .
so people don't work
people with money are fine
they can wait it out
. . . [7/8/23]
. . .
some people are broke
and this will break even more
not executives
. . . [7/8/23]
. . .
just cost of business
it's just how it works you see
someone else will do
. . . [7/8/23]
. . .
but back to nice things
back to air light space and time
those things are always
. . . [7/8/23]
. . .
and how about you
how will you do all of this
will you make it through
. . . [7/8/23]
. . .
. . .
from reunion to back home and a big plumbing issue and some on the wga/sag-aftra strike. life. and birds. and air light space and time ( i often come back to this in life after having read bukowski's poem "air and light and time and space" -- tis a good grounder for me) -- thanks for reading and taking it in via haiku - i love the breaking it down into "simple" terms. thank you! -- kory
