Gypsy Girl

Finding home

By Raya McFaddenPublished 4 years ago 1 min read

When there's no one there to love you

When all you are is alone,

How do you find that elusive feeling

That other people call home.

You turn into a gypsy girl

Travel all around the globe,

Never settle long in one place

Run away when others probe.

You try to settle down

Find happiness where you can,

Yet nothing seems fulfilling

So you move onto the next plan.

Alone again, as always

Drifting along through life,

Then someone comes along

And suddenly you're a wife.

You add in a cat, a dog

And a cozy little house,

But what he really wants

Is a quiet little mouse.

And so this gypsy girl

Runs away and hides again,

But this time she finds herself

While sitting in a glen.

Instead of running away this time

She goes back where she was born

And lives her life her way

Ignoring all the scorn.

When she meets a man to love

At first she tries to roam

Until she finally realizes

His heart holds her home.
