The Day of Spring

"Gwanwyn"

Rivers of light flow from the east,

Shards of truth piercing the beast,

Dark minions huddle, shivering in fright,

Warm sunrise embraces, ending the night!

For us now a day of balance,

As a moment fragile, briefly a glance,

Cool breezes hint at soon Spring showers,

Heralding the arrival of color bursting flowers!

Plants sprouting and trees budding,

Bold boys singing and gay girls dancing,

Mountain snows melting and stony streams flowing,

With happy mothers smiling and joyful fathers laughing!

All the very fine things on this Day...

Fleeting times - being now! - not to stay,

The time of the dancing dreamer is here,

And ever-longer days of warmth are near!

Enjoy this bright day of festival,

As the day passes and starry night's fall,

A shorter dark, this night, than those before,

Hearkening of great days ahead, warming my core!
