Gunman's Behest

They have nothing to offer but their thoughts and hallow prayers

as they turn their nose to dead children who could so easily be theirs

a school full of death is such an unsightly affair

and come tomorrow I promise, they will never have cared

Because we pledge our allegiance to the almighty gun

a nation under the bullet we will always be one

these tragedies well there’s just nothing to be done

when each child is deemed as a cost overrun

This country’s a cancer, it’s heart an abscess

filled with the graves of our children who’ve never know rest

so, send them to school, give your child their backpack and vest

and teach them to run at the gunman’s behest
