Guard Your Legacy

A poem on how to live well

By Kennedy WashikaPublished 2 years ago 1 min read

Guard your Legacy

Hey you up today

I come to you in peace

Am writing this for you today

My heart broken into pieces

I hope one day when you sitting

Your eyes busy glued on the telly

Your child comes to you crying

Narrating of the days ordeal

How s/he was turned off

For the life changing opportunity

All because s/he bears your name

The kinda treatment s/he got

I hope you will look back

With tears in your eyes

Regrets chocking your throat

Your heart filled with pain and bitterness

How bad you used your position to mistreat others

How you looked down upon those your bestowed

With the mandate to build them

Yet you chose to trash and kill their career

You burnt the bridges

Which was meant to be your tomorrow`s connection

You only saw today forgetting tomorrow exists

What are you going to explain to your child

Hey you reading from me today

Guard your legacy with much care

The tables might turn tomorrow

And those you looked down upon are the ones you will need
