Grown Up Lessons
The hardest part of life is realizing you're growing up.

Wow, has time flown by.
I never thought I'd see this day, for sure.
I didn't think I'd make it this far.
On my way to a happy home, and a happy life.
So why do I feel so empty inside?
Years have gone by, but have I learned anything?
Millions of more tears were shed, many late nights feeling lonely.
A husband and daughter, all of my own creation.
But damn it, what did I learn?
I've learned my problems are smaller than I thought.
All my problems are in my head, and since I can't control my mind my world feels shattered all the time.
It's easier to have a child than it is to raise one.
You can't properly raise a child if you don't understand your own traumatic childhood.
You also can't love someone fully unless you absolutely learn to love yourself.
But not just love yourself, you need to understand who you are.
Growing up isn't about growing in age and financial responsibility.
Don't you think it's about learning to be responsible for yourself, too?
Showing up for yourself day in and day out, finding out what feeds your soul.
Tame your mind. Mind your tongue.
You don't have to be vile because someone else spat poison at you.
You need other people to survive. Don't shut out the world because it used to be cold to you.
Learn to be warm.
Don't let others feel your negative energy because your energy speaks louder than you.
And, last but not least, learn to be more kind, darling.
Your kindness could heal all that's broken inside you if you just learn to practice it daily.
We all grow up one day, but ask yourself, have you learned from the lessons life is trying to teach you?
About the Creator
Ze
It took me a long time to realize that I'm not the only traumatized person in this world, and that I could be going through worse. We all have our demons. To truly live we must let go of our ego and learn to control our minds.
