From the time I was born, to this day and age

I’ve been crafted by shades of purple

Sometimes I’m red, and sometimes I’m yellow

But underneath it all, always, is purple

In my younger years, amethyst was my hue

From the walls of my room, to the depths of my soul

Deep purple spoke to me, crafted me

And made me whole

The older I grew, the more light I required

To reach for new heights, lilac became my color

With slight variances in tone, and a soothing demeanor

Lilac aged my soul, and helped me grow further

Now, in my great age, which is still fairly young

The deep reddish-purple of wine has become my new shade

I’ve been plucked from the vine, but I’m still being aged

From the amethyst of my youth, wine-purple feels like an upgrade

As I continue to grow, I’ll discover more shades

But whether I go to plum or periwinkle

My love for purple will never fade
