Grimes’ lament
A tribute to Poe with a SciFi twist
Death is a sweet release
A freedom song,
A tender lover,
A beautiful dream, and a lifelong fulfillment.
Life’s stolen kisses and
Time’s halting glances are
All events that cheapen the grand and final chapter.
Like a vapor dragging precious moments on longer than they need be; what ebbs and flows in Front of me an
Ever pressing caress.
Delicious stillness with serene pause, Sensual perfume paralyzing the senses, Siren song and call of the wayward traveler, hark now and listen.
Decades robbing heaven
Millennia trading timeless fare for worthless chaff,
Oh how my soul throbs for the dark and savory everlasting.
The murky depths are my haven and the cold ground my woven cloak.
Oh the warmth I’m denied and the safety that is stolen!
Shall a savior of old like Christ come to put me to rest?
I have lost all sense of any measurements in this writhing.
Alas there shall be no peace, no sweet divine drifting of the eyelids, no place for my soul to rest A spell and gather strength.
The senseless agony, the needless suffering, ignites within me an eternal fire that burns blue With fury. What shall become of my sta-tus, what shall become of my wallowing?
Nothing; sheer infinite nothing. The curse of man’s evil longing for power
By the gods were laid out centuries ago; never to rest again after one has been born. As such,
Each morn we rise with plans of ill or peace. It matters not, and we play out our plans. We can Seek to destroy cities, countries, continents, worlds, etc and feel every ounce of pain. As the Dark of night falls, we seek the solace of rest, of closure, and none comes our way.
When dusk settles, our molecules are already rejuvenating to bring us once more to our form of
Wholeness we desperately, insanely desire to escape.
