Grief

or relief

Grief comes in many forms

It hits in ways that are different and not the norm

It holds us in a tight grip

It keeps us confused

We feel like a blip

We want to feel

Yet we want to hide

We want the rawness to ebb and subside

We don’t know how we feel

We know that it feels very real

When grief is our companion, we are numb,

Conflicted

Tearful

Everything is surreal

Yet reality is that we feel

We feel a lot, a kaleidoscope of things

The inner conflicts of relief and sadness throughout our being

This is grief and it is the toughest emotion to feel

Whether a loved one

A fur baby

A feathered or scaled friend

Someone you are distant or estranged from

Grief is grief and it is real.
