Grief

...

By Jada FergusonPublished 3 years ago Updated 3 years ago 1 min read

As soon as exhaustion sealed my lids-

Nana's corpse would corner me-

Arms outstretched for a hug-

Death racing through through my nostrils-

For months-

Fever dreams began greeting me during the day-

I didn't remember her laugh or smile anymore-

This was the cruelest my mind had ever been-

The nightmares of being berated for being pregnant-

The one where I was repeatedly chased between the doors of my home-

The recurring torture dream where I was starved and caged-

None of them compared to the visions for the months following her death-

My mind took her from me-

Grief was the craziest dream

sad poetry
