Grief Work in Five Parts

A Series of Haikus about Grief

By d.l.adamsPublished 3 years ago Updated 3 years ago 1 min read

I

At the mountain base,

the breeze and tall shadows lurk —

Will I conquer this?

II

Mars stalks the full moon;

His absence looms and endures.

“Father, where are you?”

III

Mountain crest, my guide:

Another call unanswered,

Where shall I wander?

IV

Steps drag, exhausted,

Desolate and committed,

Summoned by the peak.

V

The summit greets me

The sun rises and welcomes —

An honor bestowed.
