Green Eyes

Love at first sight

Standing on a busy street, outside the “spot”

We had decided on

It’s oh so modern, how chic, how 21st century

To be dating virtually

Yet, there’s still nothing quite like the real thing

That first moment in time…the Meeting.

I remember texting you to say, “I’m here!”

And when I looked up, there you were

We smiled like giddy children.

Oblivious to cars, and seagulls and bikes and city noise

It was as if the Earth stopped moving…

Time infinity paused just for that second.

Almost 10 years have passed since

But the moment is like a picture, clear as day in my memory

Those bright green eyes…

It was everything I needed

A spark, a click, a pleasurable ignition of something deep within the soul

You question if it were real…

But the living proof sleeps beside me, soft breath, warm heart

The evidence of love around us

Our child now growing up

Our life morphing into comfortable rhythms

Sometimes mundane,

But always loving.

The universe opened up that day

To offer the greatest gift of all

And I got lost in those eyes in the way the spirit craves

As every moment from that moment blossomed out like a fractal

Living in your love; a goddess at sea in those green eyes that

Were meant to be.
