Green Eyed Monster

Pride/envy

By Jane VanCantfortPublished 5 years ago 1 min read

Sage green eyes mirror reflected

Still as lizards in a barren land

Olive veins pulse like rivers

Beneath the sagging scaly skin

Willow forest pine and myrtle are my colors

Too ancient now to yearn for youth

But must disdain the bitter bile of envy

I claim the pride of the great green elm

Deep roots and graceful branches

Apple jade chartreuse and hunter are my colors

Within is where I blossom greenly

What the mirror cannot see

Acceptance finally came for me

The monster sees and is redeemed

Grass frog lime and emerald are my colors
