Gray Sky Morning

I’ve just been through a dark night of the soul

But I feel like I’m just a bit short of my goal

Lost in the pitch dark I was reached by messages of a new attitude

Sometimes it felt like nothing more than a platitude

Never the less I embraced and kept going through hell

Even though sometimes I was only an empty shell

The promised light at the end of the tunnel was dim

But I knew if I stayed put the outcome would be grim

So here I am at the dawn of something new

When I looked up at the sky I expected it to be bright and blue

That’s not what I found, and it feels a little jarring

Instead of happily ever after I see a gray sky morning
