Gray

A free verse poem

By Amber Alisa Published 7 years ago 1 min read

My dear please don’t be offended when I tell you that you remind me of the color gray. Don't you see gray is more beautiful than you realize.

Gray is the rainfall that chills the air on a somnolent Sunday morning.

Gray is drinking coffee on the couch with blankets wrapped around us while we stay warm by the fire.

Gray is the color of the old record player that softly plays Mayer in the background as we ponder on our favorite songs and memories.

Gray is a cup of warm tea and a deep meaningful conversation. The type of conversation that keeps you up until dawn.

Gray is getting caught in the rain and instead of running for cover you decide to dance and soak in the moment.

Gray is the color I see when you are gone and I ask the moon for your safe return.

Gray is looking up at the sky and feeling the first snowflake of winter land on your nose and you offering me your jacket.

Gray is the color of the vintage photos you show me as we discuss our families and where we came from.

Gray is everything that you are able to see in this world that is beyond the black and white.

Gray is everything that is charming and not ordinary...And you my dear are anything but ordinary.
