Grandma’s House

Summer memories

By DMTakeshiPublished 5 years ago 1 min read

Grandma’s House

Awake at four A.M. scrubbing her house

With curlers in her hair that she slept in

And the pride taken in choosing her blouse

Up before anyone’s day can begin

Grandma’s house includes fun bicycle rides

Grandma’s house means early swimming lessons

Her house is something that always provides

Grandma’s house is what especially strengthens

Every summer we are at grandma’s home

Because summer meant safety and structure

Every summer it was always known

That grandma was our other mother

What is my vivid summer memory?

It’s feeling grandma’s vibrant energy

surreal poetry
