Goodbye You

Hello Me

I was your light

In the dark

You were my chaos

In the calm

I was your mirror

You, my reflection

I saw you

But you really saw me

You were so lost

And wanted to be found

In trying to save you

I began to drown

I never stopped trying

Even though it brought me down

I was your sunshine

You were my storm

Searching for a rainbow

Through the clouds

After the rain

But it never came

In the sea of darkness

I swam

Hoping to see the light

In a dark hollow cave

Yet I stayed

What can I say

I have a thing

For lost souls

That need saving

Reliably unreliable

Consistently inconsistent

One foot in

One foot out

Your absence left me

Breathless

Restless

Sleepless and starved

You walked away

Yet you wouldn’t let me go

You cast out your line

Again and again

I got hooked

And you reeled me back in

Only to catch me

And release me again

Covered in the scars

Memories tore apart

Left stains on my heart

Soul scorched in the dark

Now when I see you

You're a ghost

That haunts my dreams

You still find me

Even when I sleep

Goodbye my lover

Goodbye my friend

We’ll never say hello

Ever again

I always held on tight

Afraid to let you go

I must begin anew

Goodbye you
