The Name,

Passed down to me at birth.

The Demons,

Synonymous with the name.

The bane,

Although undesired, I never had a choice.

The fight,

Remains unrelenting and ever strong.

The pain,

However, begins to settle within,

The veins.

And so, it becomes harder to fight.

The body,

Will it ever cease to move?

The mind,

Will it ever give in?

The answer,

I must refuse such thoughts.

The truth,

I was meant to break the chain.

The legend,

I was the Gonzalez,

Who rose above!

The foundation that is passed on to you does not have to be the foundation on where you build your legacy. Find your own meaning in life, make your own foundation, and, most importantly, rise above. Thank you for reading this poem. You could have read any number of poems, but you read this one and for that, I am extremely grateful. I hope that it added some value and quality to your everyday life.
