Gone Wishin' / Just a Trout

a fishing anthology

By Dan X CatenaPublished 4 years ago 1 min read

[Gone wishin']

I bought no tickets, packed no bags

And made no reservations.

My pole in hand I left in search

Of something like elation.

If you see my porch light off

You'd think that I've gone missin'

But you will find upon my door

A sign that says gone wishin'.

[Just a trout]

For us this crystal stream is home,

To me it's not a fishing hole.

You just see my rainbow scales,

They see my iridescent soul.

I'm not a trophy, not a meal,

Not subject to your rod and reel.

Before you hook and pull me out

I'm more than just a trout.
