Gone but not Forgotten

A poem about loss and reality

By Jacci WPublished 6 years ago 1 min read

I wake up in the morning

Still somewhere in between

The bright annoying sunlight

And the fading of my dream

I was dreaming of a man

I’d seen his face before

He told me to come closer

I did though still unsure

The smile he created

Made everything feel right

There was not a safer place

Than in his arms at night

But now he’s disappeared

I try to understand

My quiet bed leaves no sign

Of the ending I had planned

I try to fall back to sleep

To find his scent on me

I beg and pray

He’ll come back to stay

But his smile is no where to see

He’s gone

But never forgotten 💙

Grief... It shakes you.

And drops you down into a reality that you don’t understand.

It leaves you lost in every way a person can be lost... scared. disconnected. Broken.

To Heal we have to feel
