Nothing gold can stay
But I am
Golden and steady
Its all of me
The flash of gold in the heel of my stiletto
The shimmer that I brushed on my collar bone
The outward hinting at the alloy that is inside
I don’t think Johnny meant it in just this way
Though he knew Ponyboy was golden too
His heart was sharper
The golden ones touch those deeper elements if you let them
I have more proof of mine
But the dimmed ones resist the light
that burns some when it presses in
Casting stones, casting shadows
I glimmer on
Shine
Dimmed by their day
But still gold
