Your love does not last, though I wish it would
The flashing heat of your smile quickly fades
Your saucy sashay through a moonlit wood
Will be obscured as, through it, snow cascades

Your jokes and riddles tantalized my mind
Your spicy warmth covered me in salt sweat
Your swift departure seems callous, unkind
Your answers melt; your questions, I forget

From your cicada chorus came bright lies
False promises that autumn will expose
Though your departure won't be a surprise
It will force me to wear heavier clothes

I will yearn for your curling, red beauty
When tumbling leaves laugh at your love for me
