You saw right through
my tears, my gears
my fears
you held my heart
in your hand
you dissected it
methodically
tear by tear
gear by gear
fear by fear
pain by pain
discovered the
things I couldn't
hide
no matter how
I tried
the scabs
cried
I know but
I couldn't help
picking at them
I know
they protect
the wounds underneath
and let them heal
you noticed the strings
too
and loosened
their tenacious grip
I know
too much tension
pulls the scabs
too
then you put
it all back together
perfectly
as if you had never
been there
my secrets
are yours now
too
but I know they're
safe
the only one
who knows
my heart's
secret
secrets.
