Heavy feelings & Light spirits

How can I know you LORD?

How could a mind as meager as mine,

Possibly envelope itself around and inside,

The infinite wisdom of the divine?

The whole realm of nature is thine,

Yet we know not even the denizens of the deep,

How could I conceive the expanse of your majesty,

Or read record of the depths of love you keep?

We long to be masters of this world,

To crown ourselves kings and queens of the realm,

But we are laid low when you move your mighty hand,

And death or disaster remind of who is truly at the helm.

Yes, you Lord are like gravity, heavy and oppressive,

Returning all things back to the earth,

Your power is in all places, it is omnipresent,

Ensuring that we creatures find strength to survive birth.

Without you, there is no development,

With you there is form and function,

Without you, there is merely chaos,

With you, is the clockwork of creation!

So while I yet dream to fly,

To emblazon my name across a cerulean sky,

I am glad to be on the ground, I am blessed to be safely bound,

By Gravity.
